Start Up Scripts Geth and Ethminer

Start-Up Scripts

Now that we have basic mining box setup we need scripts to control the startup of the applications. Below you will find basic scripts that utilize the screen application to connect and disconnect to the application. These are standard bash startup scripts.

Create Scripts and make them executable

 touch geth.sh 
 chmod +x geth.sh 
 touch ethminer.sh 
 chmod +x ethminer.sh 

Geth Script

 #!/usr/bin/env bash 
 echo "Starting geth" 
 screen -dmS geth /usr/bin/geth --rpc --rpcaddr "0.0.0.0" --rpcport 8545 --rpccorsdomain "*" 
 #Basic geth startup script 

The --rpcaddr "0.0.0.0" is binding geth to all network interaces and the --rpccorsdomain "*" allows connections from other domain names

Ethminer Script

 #!/usr/bin/env bash 
 echo "Starting ethminer" 
 screen -dmS ethminer /usr/bin/ethminer -G 
 #Basic ethminer startup script 

Using screen

You can now use the screen application to connect and disconnect to both geth and ethminer

 screen -r 

It should list the screens that are running both geth and ethminer that we launched using our startup scripts.

Attach to a screen

 screen -r geth
