SPREAD — System for Sharing and Publishing Research Data We presented our work on MEDIator/SPREAD at SIIM 2016 in Portland, OR.    In this study we developed a set of web-services that abstract the task of replicating and publishing subsets of data that are stored in curated biomedical data repositories. The overarching goal is to develop tools that can be configured against data repositories and give researchers, during the course of a research study, the ability to seamlessly share, with collaborators, data subsets; and upon conclusion of the study, publish the datasets for wider consumption.   The full paper can be found here. download  file  now

SpaceView Ubuntu File System Usage Indicator SpaceView is an Ubuntu indicator which displays the file system usage , created as a response to an AskUbuntu question. The AppIndicator displays a list of devices in its menu, and clicking on any of them sets it as default, displaying its free space directly on the panel. From its preferences, you can assign an alias to each device, select the panel icon color, or set the warning threshold (when the free space reaches the threshold, a warning is displayed). Other features include an option to show the usage of freshly connected devices as notifications, and an option to start SpaceView on startup. After changing any settings from the SpaceView preferences, click the "Restart now" button or else they wont be applied until the indicator is restarted. Speccy an Excellent System Information Utility for Windows Apparently, apart from GNU/Linux, theres this whole other operating system called MS Windows :P and I thought that I should write a few articles for the MS Windows users from time to time as well. So, if you use Microsoft windows and searching for a free tool to get advanced system information about your PC, although Im pretty sure theres a whole bunch of em out there, but this one called "Speccy" is an excellent little utility in my experience.
