Software OwnCloud is a Free Application for Cloud Computing

Image
Software OwnCloud is a Free Application for Cloud Computing OwnCloud is a free application which is used to build a private cloud computing.  Among the improvements, OwnCloud provide file synchronization feature (file synchronization), file sharing feature (file sharing), and integrate Cloud-Storage External services. This application built using PHP language, and claimed to be able to synchronize more quickly and easly be connected to an external cloud services such as Amazon S3, Dropbox, Google Drive or Strato Hidrive. OwnCloud automatically be registered on WebDAV servers, Lmap, Samba, and other FTP servers when the configuration has been included in the list of OwnCloud.  For synchronization of file or map in OwnCloud not comparing date, but by comparing "Unique ID". This way is claimed to save bandwidth because only different part of the file are transmitted, so that process becomes faster synchronization. OwnCloud users can determine who has the right to read, edit, or ...

Software Defined Simulations for Continuous Development of Cloud and Data Center Networks

Software Defined Simulations for Continuous Development of Cloud and Data Center Networks Today I am presenting my full paper at CoopIS. This is one of the core works of my PhD, and something that I have been working for, for the last 2 years. The presentation and the abstract are given below. The full paper can be found here. Today is also my last day at Rhodes, and back to Portugal tomorrow very early morning! It was an amazing week at this lovely island with full of sessions and networking. I also had another paper in the conference last year as well, which was held in the same location, same days. However, I was unable to physically join the conference due to clash in travel schedules. Luckily, this time I made it! Software-Defined Simulations for Continuous Development of Cloud and Data Center Networks from Pradeeban Kathiravelu Abstract: Cloud network systems and applications are tested in simulation and emulation environments prior to physical deployments, at different sta...

State of DB2 in the Cloud March 2011

State of DB2 in the Cloud March 2011 Unlike many of its competitors, DB2 is fully supported in virtualized environments. Since every cloud is built upon virtualization, this means that DB2 is automatically supported when running on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IBM Development & Test Cloud, even in unofficial images. One interesting aspect of this is that, if you fill out the free redistribution form, you can create cloud images that bundle the free DB2 Express-C database with your companys software without paying a dime to IBM. At any time, you can then upgrade to the DB2 Express edition and get IBM support for your custom bundle. Hypervisors Amazon EC2 uses Xen as its hypervisor, while IBM Cloud uses KVM. Hypervisor is industry jargon for the component which sits on top of physical hardware and manages hardware access for virtual machines. There are many other hypervisor technologies, of which VMWare ESX is a popular one. Because all editions of DB2 suppor...
