South East Tour Day 1 Big Lagoon State Park Today we drove form our home in Tallahassee to Big Lagoon State Park. Kim and I woke up around 7:30 this morning and we started doing the final stretch of loading up the Volkswagen, and cleaning up the house.  I made a breakfast of eggs, hash browns and toast.  The girls are usually up between 7:30 and 8:30, but when they where still not up around 9:00 we went ahead and woke them.  After feeding everyone and getting them ready for the day, we headed out.  We had to drop off Mollie with a pet sitter Kim found on Craigs List, and then we left town. I drove the first leg of the trip all the way to Fort Walton Beach, taking Highway 20 almost the whole way. We dropped by a Subway for lunch, but ate in the car. South East Tour Day 2 Bayou Segnette State Park This morning Kim was the first one up, followed by Athena and Aurora.  I got up last and began getting things packed up.  Arianna woke up very last.  She slept in the bottom bed with me.  Aurora and Kim slept up top.  Athena slept with Angel and Ashton. Ashley made a breakfast of sausage patties and eggs.  There was also a bunch of watermelon my grandfather bought.  We were worried that there wasnt going to be enough food, but after cooking everything there was just enough to fill everyones bellies. Kim and I slowly got everything ready and eventually got things on the road.  After leaving the camp grounds we stopped by a Tom Thumb gas station for some ice and gas.  We then went across the street to Wal-Mart to get some other needed supplies, including letting the kids spend a little bit of the money we got for them to buy a toy to entertain them on the road.  Arianna got a mini version of ...

State Dept Considering Closure of US Embassy Syria Via the Office of the Spokesperson, January 20, 2012: "While no decision has been made, we have serious concerns about the deteriorating security situation in Damascus, including the recent spate of car bombs, and about the safety and security of embassy personnel. We have requested that the government of Syria take additional security measures to protect our embassy, and the Syrian government is considering that request. We have also advised the Syrian government that unless concrete steps are taken in the coming days we may have no choice but to close the mission." State of Oklahoma 2005 Resolution Commending Tim Tingle Amongst Tim Tingles many books is Walking the Choctaw Road. Parts of it are heartrending. First published in 2003 by Cinco Puntos Press, it consists of twelve stories, some of which evolved into his picture books. I just came across something I didnt know about. In 2005, the State of Oklahomas 50th Legislature passed House Concurrent Resolution 1025, commending Tim. I didnt know Tim, back then, but he was already doing important work that was being recognized--in this case, by the State of Oklahoma. A belated congratulations, Tim! State of Blog and Lync Anno Domini 2012 I have been blogging for about a year now, and it has been fun, so I am going at it for another year. The blog had 33 posts and some 10,000 page views the past year, thanks for the comments, mails and feedback so far! So lets start off 2012 with some news around Lync! The biggest news is of course the Lync 2010 Mobile Clients. It is now possible to run Lync 2010 clients on Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad, Android? and Nokia Symbian?. What I hope we will see more of in 2012 is Office 365 and especially Lync voice services through this cloud. State Of Art In Vidya Games Exhibit 2 The Last of Us Its not easy to explain why a game is really neat to people wholl probably never play it,  but Ill take a crack at it. I wanted to write about The Last of Us. Its an instant classic, and an amazing testimonial to how excellent writing and voice acting can turn an already very solid video game into something truly moving and extraordinary. However, I think it maps an excellent path to answering the tricky question about what makes video games a unique art form: In a game that is purely linear and tells most of its story through cutscenes, why not just tell the story as a movie?
