Steam Summer Sale The Steam Summer Sale ended this past weekend.  Lets have a moment of silence in remembrance of sales past. When the dust had settled I had picked up three games for $26-ish: GTA IV, Civilization V GOTY, and Darksiders.  I had played through Episodes from Liberty City but not GTA IV since it seemed like Steam always wanted to bundle them together in the past.  Civ V has been on my radar for a while, and it finally hit a price point that made me jump on it.  Darksiders, on the other hand, was a game I had never looked into previously - a friend recommended it to me and I ended up snagging it for 5 bucks.  As I plow through my gigantic backlog of Steam games Ill be posting my thoughts - stay tuned. Sri Lanka among the First 10 in Google Summer of Code 2010 Though Sri Lanka is geographically a small country in the world, its not that small when it comes to the IT world. The Google Summer of Code 2010 has proved what an important role Sri Lanka is playing in the Open Source world. As a student of University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, I feel proud that there are 34 students accepted from Sri Lanka among the total 1,026 accepted students and most importantly its a glory that Sri Lanka has secured the 10th place among the 69 countries which are taking part in Gsoc 2010. Steam Summer Sale Damage Report Steam sales just aren�t as much fun as they used to be. There�s no more daily deals. No more flash sales. There�s no reason to check back every 8 or so hours to see what�s new. Every discount you see on day 1 is what you�re going to get for the entire duration of the sale. So although the sale is still ongoing, I�ve already made my purchases. There�s no more surprises to come. My first buy was Doom . Although I thought the multiplayer beta was terrible, everything I�ve seen and heard about the single player campaign has been extremely positive. My second purchase was the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3. I was planning to get this on release, but it arrived just a few days after Total War: Warhammer, so I really didn�t have time for it. My next buy was Rise of the Tomb Raide r, which I hope builds upon the very solid, if somewhat forgettable 2013 reboot. Hopefully there�s more emphasis on exploration, adventure, survival and actual tomb raidin...
